An update on what’s been going on with the podcast, my own life, and what the plans are for the future
I wanted to pop in to your inboxes, beloveds, and give a little update on ALLLL the things going on in my world & what to look for in the future.
First of all, Happy belated Thanksgiving. Happy Holiday season. Happy Advent (right around the corner). Every blessing to you all for a gentle, spacious, unhurried, joyful season for you and yours.
Some of you know I had to take a little break from podcasting back in August/September because I had a nasty case of pneumonia, which hung on forever and for which I had to be hospitalized at one point. When I got well and back to it, after about 3 weeks, I started having major issues with my laptop & it, too, had to also be hospitalized at the Geek Squad for Methuselah’s lifetime. All the interviews I had scheduled (or recorded but had thus far been unable to edit) had to again be pushed back. It is home now, hallelujah praise Jehovah!
In the meanst (which I don’t think is a word but should be, to describe “in the meanwhile time”), things at my full time job shifted and my workload — which used to afford me the flexibility of recording interviews anytime during the work week — became quite a bit more demanding.
I have also begun coursework which is the equivalent of getting a Masters degree (there aren’t degrees in insurance, only licensure & continuing ed, hence the professional designation programs). I’ll take my first exam by 12/15/23; there are ten courses, self-paced, but it’s A LOT. All told this will take me probably 18 months or more to complete. I’m excited to be doing this because I love to see women excelling in their fields & opening up doors for themselves… and I’m determined to keep doing just that myself.
Also. I began developing, researching, and writing a new adult spiritual formation series for my church over the summer — writing it all on the Google Docs app on my phone because I had no laptop; spare a thought — and I taught that on Sunday mornings from mid-September through mid-November. It was such a joy to dive in deep, scour commentaries, pore over the Greek, and refuse to let go of a text until it blessed me. The series was a survey of Resurrection throughout the Scriptures: the actual instances, the conversations & teachings & writings unpacking its significance, the ultimate description of it in Revelation 21-22, and finally, how we actually already practice and partake of it in the here-and-now as Christians. It was one of the most life-giving (pun unavoidable) topics to get to spend time in, both on my own as I prepared, and then to share with my beloved parish. I’m trying to think of the best way I can share it in a more public way, but it will likely be available for request through letitmatter.com/teaching where my other two series’ are now.
AND. I was asked to be a board member for a new non-profit that I really believe in (I can’t talk about it yet, but will when the time comes), and that has been on my plate as well. We’ve had several meetings and each time, I’m reminded why I accepted the position. It’s gonna be great and I look forward to getting to share that more next year.
All this in addition to normal regular life that was going on before this summer/fall. So. What this has all meant is that the Let It Matter Podcast has not aired a new episode since October 16th. I have two episodes I’m hoping to release before the end of the year that were previously recorded, and just need editing (but can’t promise that timeline).
HOWEVER. I am planning for the show to return in early 2024 so keep an eye out for more on that in December or January! I’m looking at options of going to a bi-weekly or twice monthly schedule (instead of weekly) or potentially pulling in some help with the behind-the-scenes tasks. While I figure that out, in the meanst (!!), you can catch up on any episodes you’ve missed — wherever you get your podcasts or at letitmatter.com/podcast
Sending all my love & thanks for your grace and understanding while I’ve been MIA.
